The Bayanihan Equity Center, in partnership with UC Berkeley’s CARE Project is seeking bilingual Community Interviewers to conduct an oral history interview with elders at BEC and Lao Seri Association.
CARE Project, under UC Berkeley’s Asian American Research Center, is a federal
grant-funded oral history project with two community organizations in San Francisco
who serve Filipino and Southeast Asian American elders. We are looking for
Community Interviewers to learn how to conduct oral history interviews with elders at
Bayanihan Equity Center and Lao Seri Association about their lives during the COVID-
19 pandemic. You will be trained on how to conduct the interviews, and you will be
matched with approximately 2 elders to interview. You will be paid $25 per hour for the
training and the interviews via gift cards.
Requirements:
18-30 yrs old
Reside in the Bay Area
Conversational-level Thai, Iu Mien, Lao, or Tagalog language
Available to participate in June 2024 and in Fall semester 2024 Be available:
Interview training at UC Berkeley in late May or early June 2024
To conduct the first in-person interview in San Francisco in June 2024
To conduct the second in-person interview in San Francisco in Fall 2024.
